HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Looking for a reason to have the whole family clinging for dear life hugging on the living room sofa? Try love scaring them! Halloween is the best holiday ever. Until Christmas rolls back around. So until then, here is a running list of scary movies for Halloween, that the whole family can enjoy.

The Worst Witch
Thanks to my parents forgetting to give me a brother, I was forced to watch crap like this with my sisters. Which isn’t the worst thing in the world. This movie very well could have been the inspiration for Harry Potter.

Mildred Hubble is the original Harry Potter, and the movie is a lot more light hearted and humorous than it lets on. The special effects are right out of a do it yourself kit, but it adds to the charm. Tim Curry’s musical number at the end is the obvious center piece, but it always creeped me out. It’s the musical version of Large Marge from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. This is worth finding.

Lady In White
Very few films get the atmosphere and dread right in a scary movie. Lady In White sits at the top of the list. The premise is simple – A young boy gets locked in a coat closet overnight during Halloween. While in there he sees the ghost of a girl and her murderer.

The less said about the rest of the movie, the better the surprises are in it. The lady in white is terrifying. And the stairs and cliffs do their job of making you squirm. This is a true classic that most people haven’t seen or heard of. I would say kids over 12 on this one. There is no gore or real blood, but it is tense.
